TL;DR - Create meaningful work

I think all of these are written in the third person but that just never felt natural to me, so forgive this small transgression before we’ve even become acquainted.

I am a Director (capital D?) and DoP (definitely capital D) currently living in Cleveland, Ohio, working in narrative, documentary, commercial, and music video production.

I have a hard time summarizing my beliefs and philosophy/approach into some sort of zingy one liner that magically makes you hire me, so instead I’m going to do something that makes no sense in the current attention span market and just ramble…

Left to my own devices, my personal work grapples with the feeling and imperfectness of memories, the non linear passage of time, and things that really cannot be verbally articulated, but are somehow easier shown - whether through still images or moving.

On a commercial level, I am able to flip the switch to cleaner (visually and emotionally) storytelling while still going deeper than surface level imagery to add a deeply human & personal touch to the work.

To quote Bill Bernbach,

“You can say the right thing about a product and nobody will listen. You’ve got to say it in such a way that people will feel it in their gut. Because if they don’t feel it, nothing will happen.”

and Rory Sutherland,

“A handmade birthday card can be cheaper and yet still more moving than an expensive bought one – but it has to involve a level of effort.”
